Listen
Readership writes songs that feel like they’ve been unearthed from a lost mixtape of yesteryear—bright & jangling guitars, a punchy rhythm section, and melodies that stick long after the music stops.
Since forming in Philadelphia in 2014, the band has balanced power-pop shimmer with post-punk bite, drawing comparisons to “the rock anthems of R.E.M. and U2” (John Vettese, WXPN). Songwriter Adrian Morse anchors it all with storytelling that runs from historical yarns to everyday blunders, praised for a “rare knack of taking very poppy melodies and colliding them with some post-punk riffs” (Cougar Microbes).
After 2020’s Future Perfect, Readership released a string of singles culminating in the 2024's Nostalgia, Paraphrase, and Plagiarism—songs that trace their full range: danceable post-punk, shadowy rock, and heart-on-sleeve power pop. Adrian is currently writing a series of stories about creative life, ambition, failure, and mascots that demand to be taken seriously. The band is currently recording their next record and plans a return to the road soon, or at least, some dive bars in and around Philadelphia.
